Етап ііі. Заперечні речення

Інструкція 1. В англійському реченні тільки одне заперечення. Воно може бути виражене дієсловом, займенником, прислівником, сполучником.

Порівняйте: Вони нічого не бачили. - They did not see anything. = They saw nothing.

Він ніколи не був у Канаді. - He has never been to Canada.

Ні Джон, ні я не бачили нічого. - Neither John nor I saw anything.

Якщо заперечення виражається не дієсловом, дієслово-присудок має стверджувальну форму.

Інструкція 2.  Якщо заперечення виражається дієсловом-присудком, єдиним правилом утворення заперечної форми є вживання частки not після першого елемента присудка:

I have seen this film. - I have not seen this film.;

They will inform us about it. - They will not inform us about it.

• У Present Simple і Past Simple присудок складається з одного слова, тому першим елементом заперечної форми стає допоміжне дієслово: do, does у Present Simple і did у Past Simple:

I like horror films. - I do not like horror films.;

She works for our firm. - She does not work for our firm.;

We went to the cinema yesterday. - We did not go to the cinema yesterday.

Смислове дієслово стоїть у цьому випадку в 1-й формі!

• У розмовній формі мовлення частка not зливається з першим елементом присудка: do not = don't; does not = doesn't; did not = didn't; is not = isn't; are not = aren't; was not = wasn't; were not = weren't; will not = won't; have not = haven't; has not = hasn't; had not = hadn't. Але: I am not = I'm not:

They do not watch TV in the morning. = They don't watch TV in the morning.;

She is not coming to the party. = She isn't coming to the party.;

He has not translated the article yet. = He hasn't translated the article yet.;

I am not planning to take this course. = I'm not planning to take this course.
