§11. Страдательный залог

Страдательный залог (Passive Voice) – показывает, что предмет или лицо, являющееся подлежащим, подвергается действию.

Ex. The students ask many questions.

Студенты задают много вопросов.

The students are asked many questions.

Студентам задают много вопросов.

Если указывается, кем или чем производится действие, то употребляется существительное или местоимение с предлогами by или with,выражающими отношение творительного падежа:

Ex.: The new drug was prepared by our chemists. (кем?)

The laboratory is equipped with automatic machinery. (чем?)

Времена группы Simple в страдательном залоге образуются при помощи глагола to be в соответствующем времени и причастия прошедшего времени смыслового глагола (если глагол неправильный - это III форма, если правильный – инфинитив с окончанием ed):

Present Simple Passive

Exercise 1. Translate into English using the forms of Past Simple Active and Past Simple Passive:

Exercise 3. Open the brackets using the verbs in:

Exercise 4. Choose the right form of the verb:

1. At the station they will (meet, be met) by a man from the travel agency. 2. She will (meet, be met) them in the hall upstairs. 3. The porter will (bring, be brought) your luggage to your room. 4. Your luggage will (bring, be brought) up in the lift. 5. You may (leave, be left) your hat and coat in the cloakroom downstairs. 6. They can (leave, be left) the key at the reception downstairs. 7. Exercise 5. Open the brackets, put the verb into Present, Past or Future Simple Passive:
