  1. How to work with the artcles

Guideline 1

  1. Read the heading to guess the general idea of the article

  2. Read through the article quickly, looking for words or ideas that go with the heading

  3. Underline or write down key words, or key information (people, place, events, time), or summary sentences

  4. Don’t read every word of the article carefully

  5. Don’t panic if you see words that you don’t know. You don’t have to understand every word of the article to be able to answer the questions.

  6. Look out for words that help to organize the article, such as connective words(however, thus), pronouns, demonstratives (this, that)

  7. Use appropriate expressions to link ideas, to generalize, to give examples

  8. Plan you story before you start retelling

  9. In your introduction, say what the main idea is and where the information comes from.

  10. In your conclusion, summarize the main points of the article.
