1. The state academy of light industry of ukraine

Ukraine is a country of students. There are institutes, academies and universities in almost all large cities of Ukraine.

The State Academy of Light Industry of Ukraine is one of the largest establishments of higher learning in Ukraine. The Academy was founded in 1930. Now it is one of the largest among the higher schools of light and textile industries in our country. The students' body of the Academy is about 7,500 students (including extra-mural students).

Students of the Academy get their education at 4 departments: clothing technology department, technology-economic department, light industry articles department and technological equipment and automated control systems department. It is a leading scientific educational centre in Ukraine, which provides training for the following specialities:

1. Clothing technology and design.

2. Leather technology and design.

3. Design and art decoration of Light industry articles.

4. Computers-aided design of light industry articles.

The graduates of these specialities possess knowledge and practical skills for successful production, commercial and research activities in the field of artistic design, clothing technology, footwear and computer-aided design of light industry articles.

5. Leather and fur technology.

The Academy graduates of this speciality get a theoretical back­ground and practical skills for successful production, commercial and research activities in the manufacture of natural and artificial leather and fur.

6. Textile and knitting technology.

The Academy graduates of this speciality get the professional naming for successful business in the field of manufacturing knitted lawns and articles.

7. Plastics and elastomers recycling technology.

The Academy graduates of this speciality are greatly wanted in the field of production, commercial and research activites in plastics and elastomers recycling for the needs of light industry and other branches.

8. Economics and management of textile and light industry.

9. Production organization.

The Academy graduates of these specialities get a deep theoretical background and practical skills in the field of economics, organization and management of light and textile industries. They work successfully in production, commerce, management and research in the field they have chosen.

10. Machines and apparatuses of light industry and services.

11. Automation of technological processes and production.

12. Industrial electronics.

13. Electrical domestic appliances and devices.

The Academy graduates of these specialities get a theoretical background and practical skills for successful production, commercial and research activities in the field of design, manufacture, maintenance of light industry machines and apparatuses and control systems of technological processes and equipment.

17 academicians and corresponding members of different acade­mies, 43 professors and doctors of sciences, and more than 260 masters of sciences are involved in training specialists. Modern laboratories, one of the largest libraries in Kyiv and good sports facilities are at students' disposal. The students are engaged in research right from their first year of study. There are students' scientific societies, design bureaus, scientific circles at each department of the Academy.

The prospects for the growth and development of the Academy are hopeful.
