portance of a possible candidate for the US presidential elections in 2016, Joe Biden (Vice President of the USA Joe Biden → Dick Cheney's angelic twin), the dominant feature of the precedent concept one of the most effective vice presidents of the USAis highlighted:

His personal closeness to President Obama and the president's willingness to delegate important jobs to Biden raise him to the level of the most effective – and consequential

– vice presidents. In terms of political heft, Biden is Dick Cheney's angelic twin [7*].

The name and surname of Monica Lewinsky acquired the status of a PN after the story of her relationship with Bill Clinton had received the worldwide publicity. Thus, a PN Monica Lewinsky sets a vector for the direction of transanthroponymization Paula Broduel → the Pentagon

Monica Lewinsky (“a woman who became a participant of the social and political scandal because of her personal relationship with a man in authority, whom she had compromised”):

Information about the novel of 60-year-old David Petraeus and 40-year-old Paula Broadwell, with a light hand of the American journalists nicknamed the Pentagon Monica Lewinsky became known at the end of 2012. According to the materials of the case, Petraeus handed his mistress eight so-called “black books”, which could be useful in the work on his biography, for a few days. According to the newspaper The Guardian, they contained the names of the agents under cover, and the details of the US strategy of military actions; the activities of the intelligence service, the details of the negotiations with the leadership of the National Security Council and the President of the United States were reported as well [8*].

2. LITERARY PRECEDENT NAMES.

Literary PNs cause more complex associations. Thus, the names of Pygmalion and Galatea may be a reminiscence of the Greek myth of the sculptor Pygmalion, who fell devotedly in love with his creation (the statue of a beautiful girl), which was revived by the goddess Aphrodite, taking pity on him (it is interesting to note that the name of the beloved of Pygmalion is not mentioned in the ancient sources, Jean-Jacques Rousseau in his essay “Pygmalion” in 1762 named her Galatea) and an allusion of the George Bernard Shaw’s play “Pygmalion”, which gained worldwide fame. [7]

Due to the above associations it has become possible to transfer PNs Pygmalion and Galatea to the characters of the newspaper essay, the writer Marco Vovchok (a pseudonym) → Galatea (a revived creation, in which intellectual labor is invested, in this case) and her husband, Athanasius Markovich → Pygmalion (a creator, a selflessly devoted husband):

The career of a writer for Marco Vovchok (her real name was Maria Alexandrovna

Vilinskaya, her first husband’s surname – Markovich, her second husband’s surname –

Lobach-Zhuchenko) began in the following way. In 1851 Masha Vilinskaya being a woman without a dowry married the exiled Ukrainian student Athanasius Markovich. Pygmalion sculpted the beautiful Galatea, revived her, and then he turned out to be no use to anyone. No use to Galatea, no use to all the others [9*].

The next example highlights the strong working and friendly relations between the former coach of the hockey team SKA Bykov and his assistant Igor Zakharkin introducing into the context the PNs of Don Quixote and his faithful squire Sancho Panza, the heroes of the novel by Miguel de Cervantes “Don Quixote”, symbolizing friendship and understanding. The former coach of SKA Bykov → Don Quixote; his assistant Igor Zakharkin → Sancho Panza (strong partnership and working relations):

Igor Zakharkin left SKA together with Bykov, considering unethical his further work without a colleague. There were gossips that during the season Zakharkin would have been fired three times for his stubborn temper, but Don Quixote Bykov always defended his Sancho Panza [10*].

3. PRECEDENT NAMES OF BIBLICAL CHARACTERS.

The biblical PNs of the King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon and the leader of the forces of the conquerors Gogh are updated in the following example quoted from press materials.

Stalin → the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar (the victorious Babylonian king, who is repeatedly mentioned in the Bible and the Talmud) [8] represents the concept “the victorious ruler”, while Gogh (in the Old Testament, in the Book of Ezekiel in the 38th and 39th Chapters there is a reference to the prophecy of Gogh from Magog, according to which Gogh is the name of the leader, who comes from Magog with the war on the land of Israel, and will suffer a military defeat by God) [9] represents the concept “the leader of the troops of the conquerors, armies of Satan” and acts as a PN for a comparison with Hitler:

Letters are difficult to read. They contain many allegories, references to the Bible.

He (Konenkov) calls Stalin the biblical king Nebuchadnezzar, the Red Army – the Army of God, and he calls Hitler Gogh, the leader of the forces of Satan. After the conquest of Europe Gogh will rush to the USSR… [1*].

4. FOLKLORIC PRECEDENT NAMES.

Involved in the carnage in the Transcarpathian Region nationalists are ironically named as

Robin Hoods in the press (the noble robbers from the English folklore, seeking to achieve “justice” by unjust methods):

Nationalists quickly declared that they are not guilty of anything. On the contrary, they are the real Robin Hoods, they wanted to bring order to the corrupt Transcarpathian Region, since the power in Kiev is not capable of doing this and is completely rotten [6*].

A PN of the Russian epic character, Vasilisa Mikulishna, who is notable for great strength and beauty, is introduced into the text for a comparison with the bodybuilder Natalia Trukhina to strengthen the above qualities:

At first glance Natasha attracts with a combination of steel muscles with captivating femininity. Epic Vasilisa Mikulishna: floats gently as a swan, smiles gently, speaks softly, straightens the hair with a smooth gesture and fun-loving as a child [11*].

5. PRECEDENT NAMES OF HISTORICAL FIGURES.

A PN of the historical figure, Napoleon, makes a striking presentation of a much less significant and well-known character, General Antonio de Santa Anna (the dictator of Texas), filling the phrase The Napoleon of the Westwith certain senses (their comparison is conducted in the following areas: both Napoleon and General Antonio de Santa Anna declared themselves dictators, their military careers were a series of ups and downs).

In this muddle there appeared a colorful character, General Antonio de Santa Anna (17941876), who considered himself The Napoleon of the West. His biography is a series of

ups and downs, he was overthrown, then he seized power again and became president in

1833, he announced his intention to build a “centralist state”, a dictatorship with him at the head [5*].

Separately, we highlight the linguistic situation where a PN is introduced into the context of media materials to refer to a certain generalized idea about personal identity, there is a generalization of the concept, concentrated in the PN, which is explicated by means of a numerical category, reflecting at the same time, certain axiological (negative or positive) direction [10]. Generalization of the concept is emphasized in the contexts by the combination of PNs with pronouns no Tovstonogov, with all Milonovs-Kurginyans, the adjective new Arshavins and Kerzhakovs and the use of PNs (Milonovs-Kurginyans, Arshavins and Kerzhakovs, about Mozarts) in the plural form.

No Tovstonogov in the example below connotes the following meaning “no brilliant thea- tre-director can appear in a framework in which the survival of theatres is squeezed in modern conditions”; the generalization of the concept occurs concentrated in the PN Tovstonogov

“any brilliant theatre-director”:

And this will lead to the situation that now, perhaps, the theater will begin to live only as the service sector. In such circumstances there can be no Tovstonogov [12*].

A PN Mozarts connotes “outstanding people of Russia”, although the PN Mozart is not initially nationally-precedent for Russia, in this case, it describes “an outstanding, talented person” without regarding any nationality, operating in the context as universally-precedent:

If only I had time to say a few words about deceased Mozarts. Gone out of my life, out of the life of the people of that suspicious Salieri’s era... But I realize with horror: with the wild acceleration of my friends’ withdrawal from life, I may not have time to do it! [13*].

In the PN Milonovs-Kurginyans the meanings are concentrated which could be described as “scandalous figures of the Russian political arena”:

There is a feeling that people put up with the country, with the State Duma, with the ruined relations with the Western world, with all Milonovs-Kurginyans and other evil. And this is quite understandable [14*].

PNs with literary allusions are actively involved in press materials that could, in our opinion, say that journalists write their articles with the expectation of the increasing cultural level of the general reader in Russia (inquisitive intellectuals not afraid to ask tough questions Chatskys; silent persons, undecided Molchalins; people who argue little and speak straightforwardly Skalozubs):

But the tendency is designated: in the country there are fewer Chatskys who love to ask tough questions, and there is an increasing number of Molchalins and Skalozubs.

Yes, in recent years there began to appear “new frightened”, new Molchalins [15*].

PNs of outstanding athletes need no introduction, PNs Arshavins and Kerzhakovs connote

“world-class talented Russian football players”:

Whatever it was, Arshavin and Kerzhakov will be included, by the way, have long been included in the golden fund of the Russian football. Without them there would be a little sad-

der. Unfortunately, the new Arshavins and Kerzhakovs, which will replace the old ones, cannot be seen [16*].

It is interesting to note that a verb “to kerzhakov” is formed in England from the surname of the Russian football player meaning “to miss the goal in favorable situations,” when Alexander Kerzhakov at some point of his career was labeled as an unlucky goalscorer [16*], a fact that may serve as an undeniable proof that his surname has acquired the status of a PN.

Analyzed above PNs serve as a vector for the direction of transanthroponymization and can be distinguished into the following groups:

the largest of them (there are 12 examples in it) is the group of Famous People of the Past and Present (Rodin, Stanislavsky, Vanga, Arshavin, Kerzhakov, Monica Lewinsky, Dick Cheney, Milonovs-Kurginyans, Tovstonogov, Mozart, Leonardo da Vinci),

followed by a group of names of Literary Characters (Pygmalion Galatea, Don Quixote, Sancho Panza, Chatskys, Molchalins, Sculozubs), consisting of seven names,

in the groups of precedent Biblical Names (Nebuchadnezzar, Gogh) and Folk Characters (Robin Hoods, Vasilisa Mikulishna) there are two examples in each,

and in the group of Historical Figures there’s only one PN (Napoleon).

With regard to gender characteristics, it can be concluded that the preference is given to male PNs (20), we found only 4 female PNs, which is five times less.

N.V. Bugueva highlights the motive of the appearance of nominal meaning in personal names: “The motive in the semantically motivated words highlights any quality through a comparison, which gives rise to the transference of meaning, to the metaphor” [11, p.13]. Thanks to rigidly fixed cultural background of one of the personal names there can occur a complete transition of a personal name into a common name with a certain set of semes, a certain fixed value. In this work we are interested in the transition of not any personal names into the common names, but namely of the precedent names into the common names. We would like to emphasize that in our examples PNs are converted into the common names of a group of people, designating followers of certain beliefs and ideology (banderovites), demonstrating some behavioral patterns (titushki), being a mouthpiece of certain qualities and talents of a person (mozarts), and not into the names of any objects. Naturally, PNs, since they are already accumulators of certain concepts, can be used in the plural [2].

Here are some examples of the transition of PNs into the common names from the arsenal of modern media sources.

The surname of Stepan Bandera has become a symbol of the Ukrainian nationalism, thus providing an opportunity to convert an anthroponym into a common noun Bandera → banderovites (followers of the nationalist ideology of S. Bandera):

Now heroic banderovites moved into the category of folk characters, working as living mannequins in the squares to earn money [17*].

The name of the athlete Vadim Titushko from the town of White Church has become common after in 2013 he participated in the brawl against the opposition, beat a television journalist and was detained. Since then the term “titushki” was coined; Vadim Titushko “titushki”

(the so-called young people whom the political groups behind the scenes use as mercenaries for fights and provocations) [19 *].

The surname of a brilliant Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart has also become a common noun for the talent, MOZART → the force of a talent can be measured in

MOZARTS:

A wonderful sculptor, Ernst Neizvestny, once remarked that if the heating power of a bulb is usually measured in watts, the power of a talent should be measured in “mozarts” [13*].

As rightly observed by N.V. Bugueva, “... the choice of a name for naming the object is always motivated... But this motivation comes not only from the object itself, but also from the social background of the bearer (from the eponym of a name, from the context of his life circumstances). And between the qualities of the bearer and the subject, which acquires someone else’s name, there is an associative connection in the mind of the speaker” [4, p.213]. In one of the most productive word-formation models of anthroponymic derivatives (AD) the transition most often occurs of the surname of the creator to a thing created, to a collection, an invention, an organization, an ideology, etc., but the abbreviation may also be used as an anthroponymic basis for transition, which is evident from the examples we have analyzed. This group of ADs can be described as formed by the metonymic transition: “In its origin, most derivatives of the group formed by the metonymic transition are: the transition of the proper name of the inventor to the subject created by him; the proper name of the scientist or the traveler to the new species of animals, plants or minerals, objects opened or bred by them, and so on; the proper name of a historical personage to a thing inserted into fashion by him (a kind of clothing, shoes, furniture and so on); the proper name of the owner or founder of the company to its industrial products (the brand names of automobiles can serve as the most typical example); the proper name of a certain person to an object indirectly associated with him; a personal name – to an era” [11, p.13]. For example,

the designer Calvin Klein → jeans “Kleins”;

fashion designer Svetlana Tegin → clothing collection Tegin;

inventor Alexander L. Mintz ALM lamp station, named after the first letters of the full anthroponym of the inventor;

Great Coco Chanel → Home Chanel;

US President Barack Obama → health insurance system of the US population Obamacare (in the compound word ‘healthcare’ there occurs a replacement of the first element ‘health’ by the anthroponymic component, the surname of Obama),

German philosopher Nietzsche Nietzscheanism (the ideology of the German philosopher Nietzsche).

PNs are closely linked with the expression of evaluation, and this evaluation is subjective

“evaluative judgments, expressed by means of precedent names, reflect the personal views and attitudes of the subject of evaluation to the characterized object formed on the basis of prevailing in this linguistic cultural community attitudes and standard views of society and man, his qualities and characteristics. Assessment, expressed through the use of a precedent name, is not rational but emotional, it is stressed emotional, therefore, subjective” [12]. From the analysis of the list of examples, we found that ADs differ in their capacity for evaluation, we identify EXPLICIT ADs, which are characteristic of the high degree of evaluation, and IMPLICIT ADs, which have the potential ability to estimate, but without additional background knowledge their evaluative function is not realized, IMPLICIT ADs are semantically similar to the PNs, the evaluative function of which “is realized in the discourse on the principle of implicational links – the use of the name brings to mind the indications associated with it” [13].

By explicit ADs we mean such ADs as PSAKING [20 *]. Since Jen Psaki has earned universal disapproval in Russia for her ridiculous answers, unconfirmed accusations and endless

“clarifications in the office”, the AD PSAKING in the Russian media discourse (PSAKING →

the surname of the former representative of the US State Department Psaki is used as the bases of the anthroponymic derivative + suffix -ing) has clearly expressed negative appraisal and is synonymous to deliberate lie, absurdity. In this case, the fact that the carrier of the anthroponym is well-known for a certain society determines the transparency of the evaluative function of the AD PSAKING explicit in its ability for assessment in the Russian media discourse.

But from the analysis of the examples, we can say that it would be wrong to link the fame of the carrier of an anthroponym with easiness to establish positive or negative connotations, or the ability of the AD, which is based on a certain anthroponym of a well-known personality, to evaluate.

The second type includes such ADs as Biden-ness and Cumberb-ches, the meaning of which, as well as the total sum of connotations, is difficult to establish without the context, and thus to determine their ability to estimate, despite the fact that the US Vice President Joe Biden and the British actor Benedict Cumberbatch are the persons having international fame. Let’s consider these examples in more detail.

What sense is concentrated in the AD Biden-ness and why is it declared in the headline of the newspaper The Washington Post “Why Hillary Clinton Needs a Little Bit of Biden-ness” that

Hillary Clinton, involved in the presidential race, lacks Biden-ism? Structurally the AD Bidenness is the surname of the US Vice President Biden + suffix -ness, graphically separated from the surname by the author of the article with a hyphen, which is reflected in our translation. We suppose that if Hillary Clinton does not have certain qualities, concentrated in the concept Bidenness, then it should be perceived positively. Let’s verify our hypothesis by analyzing the context. For this purpose we’ll group separately the qualities of Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden, in a special group we’ll select those Hillary Clinton does not possess to understand the actual value of the AD Biden-ness, according to the author of the article Ruth Marcus.

Biden and Clinton are near ideological twins – and characterological opposites. Biden oozes authenticity, but lacks discipline. Clinton epitomizes discipline, but lacks authenticity

[21*].

He lacks a compelling substantive argument for voters to choose him over Clinton — they are of the same generation, appeal to similar demographics, occupy the same liberal/centrist point on the political spectrum [21*].

Biden has a quality of genuineness, of humanity, that seems to elude the public Clinton. Biden is the ultimate extrovert [21*].

Joe Biden isn’t going to defeat Hillary Clinton. But not having Biden’s strengths, and not figuring out how to develop and display them – could [21*].

The combination of three characteristics presented in the fourth column of the above table constitutes the essence of the concept Biden-ness, namely: authenticity, a quality of genuineness and a quality of humanity. It is noted that if Hillary Clinton is not able to develop Biden’s strengths, she will lose in any case (even if she becomes the President of the United States). All the qualities that make up the concept Biden-ness are absolutely positive which allows to conclude that the AD Biden-ness has both positive connotations and positive evaluative potential, but its evaluation is IMPLICIT due to its uniqueness.

In the case of the actor Benedict Cumberbatch and the AD “Cumberb-ches” there emerges a completely different picture.

Cumberbatch’s penchant for playing the brash, brainy antihero has not only earned him critical acclaim – including an Oscar nomination for his turn as Alan Turing in “The Imitation Game”, – but also a large international following. Some of his more enthusiastic female fans labeled themselves “Cumberb-ches”, a name the actor denounced as having “set back feminism” [22*].

In the context there is an indication of the negative attitude of the actor towards the AD “Cumberb-ches”, his most fanatical female fans call them so. It is not easy to overcome the difficulties in the Russian translation of the AD, as we have to resort to a euphemism (in the word “b-ches” the letters are not accidentally missing, it relates to derogative vocabulary, and we have to replace it with a more neutral word in the translation – “females”). The AD “Cumberb-ches” is formed of the following elements: CUMBER – an anthroponimic component of the AD, an element of the surname of the actor + a derogative word “b-ches”). Negative perception of the concept is just due to the second element, and has nothing to do with the element of the anthroponym Cumberbatch.

So, ADs Biden-ness and Cumberb-ches have, as we found out, different connotative relatedness (Biden-ness connotes a positive set of personality traits; while Cumberb-ches is endowed with a negative connotation of extreme fanaticism of female fans of the famous British actor), but both of them are IMPLICIT in their ability to estimate.

An eccentric businessman Donald Trump leads among the Republicans – candidates for the US presidency in the polls. The hurricane of emotions raging around him in the American society, has brought to life a number of characteristic nicknames (Hurricane Trump, Storm Donald, Storm Trump, Hurricane Donald, where the words Hurricane and Storm are combined with the surname or the name of the referent in the postposition) and ADs with his surname (Trump). Induced by a remarkable personality of Trump, an emotional outburst of great power in the society leads to the emergence of emotionally colored, figurative ADs such as TRUMPmania (too much attention (undeserved) paid to Trump) in the article with the telling name “TRUMPmania

Drowning out Other Candidates”, TRUMPnado, and finally, the one with the highest degree of emotional intensity and the most interesting, in our opinion, – Category Five TRUMPism.

The landfall of Hurricane Trump couldn’t have come at a better time. For Americans who’d like Washington to focus on reality and not the pointless controversy of the moment, the flippant billionaire seems to be a source of the problem, but they have it all wrong. He's the solution. With Storm Donald and his whirlwind of offensive comments now blowing by at 140 ratings points an hour, there might be some hope that, in the chaos, our farcical national debate might change [23*].

TV anchors, opposing politicians and the social media mob can’t get worked into a good frenzy before another Category Five Trumpism flattens the next taboo. By the time the tuttutting morality police show up, Hurricane Donald’s path of destruction has moved on to another state or another network [23*].

The most important thing in the above mentioned nicknames and ADs, of course, is the intensity of the emotions caused in the American society by the public behavior and statements of Donald Trump, who has surpassed all the expectations, infuriated with the question of the journalist of the channel Fox News Meggin Kelly about his abusive treatment of women, and let to make a statement inexcusable from the point of view of the American morality, insinuations against the TV presenter. The so called hurricane of passions caused by the aforementioned scandal, did not cease for a long time in the American society, and Donald Trump was gaining political points on the popularity (albeit with a minus sign). What is the essence of the conflict?

On Monday, astonishingly, Trump's blood feud with Fox News’ Megyn Kelly was still going strong for a fifth consecutive day. Kelly’s tough questioning of the bombastic billionaire during last Thursday night’s debate clearly got under his skin, and he has been launching retaliatory salvos ever since.

There have been many calls for Trump to apologize for his comments during a CNN interview on Friday night when he criticized Kelly for her aggressive questioning, saying, “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever”.

But anyone expecting Trump to apologize — for anything — really hasn’t been paying attention. He hasn’t apologized for his remarks about Mexico sending us rapists and questioning whether Sen. John McCain was really a hero. And even a comment that seemed a new low, even for Trump, saw no change of behavior [24*].

ADs having both explicit and implicit evaluative power, help the authors of press materials in the creation of certain pragmatic attitudes among readers and, thus, may be included in the arsenal of those lexical means that provide “pragmatic subconscious impact[14, c.57] on the reader, prompting the latter to think in a certain way about a particular hero of this or that material. So, in this case there is no injection of a negative image of the politician, it is stressed that

Donald Trump is a tool, revealing the “boils” of the American society, political correctness of which really goes off-scale.

After having completed a study using morphological, semantic-and-cognitive and contextual types of analysis, we came to the following conclusions. PNs appear in media materials as much as possibly reduced, with a distinguished dominant traits or a set of dominant traits relevant to their representation of certain precedent concepts, mental-verbal units that are used to represent, categorize, conceptualize and assess the validity of the composition of the world picture and its fragments.

This article provides examples of transition of PNs into common names (in the plural) to specify the name of the group of people, designating the followers of certain beliefs and ideology (banderovites), demonstrating some behavioral patterns (titushki), being a mouthpiece of certain qualities and talents of a person (mozarts).

We found that ADs differ in their capacity for evaluation, we identify EXPLICIT ADs, which possess the high degree of evaluation (PSAKING), and IMPLICIT ADs (Biden-ness and

Cumberb-ches”), which have the potential ability to estimate, but without additional background knowledge and detailed linguistic analysis of the context their evaluative function is difficult to identify. As we concluded, ADs Biden-ness and “Cumberb-ches” have different connotative relatedness (Biden-ness connotes a positive set of personal traits, while “Cumberb-ches” is endowed with a negative connotation of the extreme fanaticism of numerous female fans of the famous British actor), but both are IMPLICIT by their ability to estimate.
