  1. Oscar Wilde is an outstanding Scottish writer. He was born in 1854 in Edinburgh.

  2. His father was Ireland’s leading ear and eye surgeon and his mother was a well-known actress.

  3. His academic career at Oxford was remarkable.

  5. In 1882 Oscar Wilde went to France to lecture on his aesthetic philosophy.
