Generating Your Layout with Virtuoso XL Layout Editor

Note: The connectivity source selection from can only be done from the layout cellview where the Create – Clone command was invoked. This must be from the original layout and schematic window. The target layout window is where you are going to place the instances. change the target layout in the cloning form. Open the target window and select Tools-Layout XL to bind the cellviews together.

3.In the Cloning form change the Target Layout to the second layout window.

4.Click Find Matching Targets.

5.Select devices from the Unplaced list box.

6.Click Clone.

7.Click in the layout to place the cloned structure.

Using Correspondence Points

Correspondence points are matching pairs of locations in the schematic. You define correspondence points to help you locate the structures you want to clone. Once you define the correspondence points, they are highlighted in bright colors.

You select pairs of items—R1 and R7—for example, to be stored in a correspondence points file, a standard text file containing net and device names. You can create any number of files with different names and then specify in the Correspondence Points form which one you want.

Creating Correspondence Points

To create a correspondence points file, follow these steps.

1. From the layout window, choose Create – Clone.

The Cloning form appears.

2.Turn on Correspondence File.

The Correspondence File field becomes active.

3.If you want to use a file other than the default file, type the name of the correspondence file you want to create.

4.Click Create.

The Correspondence Pairs form appears.

5.The Working File field displays the name of the correspondence points file displayed in the Cloning form.

6.Click Add.

The Add Correspondence Pairs form appears.

7.Type the component names or click Set By Cursor and select in the schematic the names of the two components you want to correspond.

8.Click Apply.

The information is added to the end of the correspondences file lvs( _corr_file) or other file you specified. Information at the end of the file (the most recent information) overrides any correspondence points information earlier in the file.

Displaying Correspondence Points

To display the correspondence points that you have entered in the correspondence points file, follow these steps.

1.On the Correspondence Pairs form, click Display.

The Display Specifi Correspondence Components form appears.

2. Turn on Source or Target to choose the point you want to display.

3.Type, or click in the schematic or layout, to specify the name of the point you want to display.

4.Click Apply.

The correspondence points you specified are highlighted in the schematic.

To display all the points in the correspondence points file

In the Correspondence Pairs form, click Display All Pts.

All the correspondence points in the correspondence points file are highlighted in the schematic.

To remove the highlighting on all the points in the correspondence point file

In the Correspondence Pairs form, click Clear All Pts.

The highlights are removed from correspondence points in the schematic.

Removing Correspondence Points

1.To remove correspondence points, in the Correspondence Pairs form, click Remove. The Remove Correspondence Components form appears.

2.Choose whether you want to remove the Source or Target point.

3.In the Name Of Point field, type the name of one of the correspondence points.

4.Click Apply.

The correspondence points are removed from the bottom of the correspondence file.

If a correspondence point has several corresponding points, all of its correspondence points are removed.
