Preparatory activities.

Review the following topics:

  1. Give the definition of the Adjective. State its morphological composition giving examples.

  2. Comment on the classification of English adjectives, their morphological and syntactical characteristics?

  3. What are the differences between relative and qualitative adjectives?

  4. Name the ways of forming the degrees of comparison in English, comment on the spelling rules.

Exercise 1. State the morphological composition and classification of the following adjec­tives.

Exercise 6. Translate the following into English using substantivized adjec­tives where possible:

Exercise 7. Point out all the substantivised adjectives and state whether they are wholly or partially substantivised.
