The faculty of Natural Sciences was founded in October 1931 on the basis of Chemical-Biological department of Stalingrad Industrial Pedagogical Institute.
Today there are seven chairs at the faculty: the chair of Botany and Methods of Teaching Biology; the chair of Zoology, Ecology and General Biology; the chair of Morphology, Men’s Physiology and Medical-Pedagogical Studies; the chair of Physical Geography and Geoecology; the chair of Chemistry and Methods of Teaching Chemistry; the chair of Economical and Social Geography and Methods of Teaching Geography; the chair of Park and Landscape Design. There are full-time and part-time departments at this faculty. The faculty prepares teachers of Biology, teachers of Geography, teachers of Chemistry and landscape designers.
Nowadays the faculty of Natural Science is one of the most prestigious faculties of VSSPU and among other higher educational establishments of Volgograd and the south of Russia.
A teaching staff of the faculty has about 11 Doctors of Science and about 45 Candidates of Science. Many of them are the graduates of our university. The staff of the faculty takes part in various international programs and gets scientific grants: the USA National Geographical Society, the Global Economical Fund, National Society for Protection of Birds, International Society of Heart Research.
Creative and research activities are carried out at the faculty. Gifted students publish their scientific works in the students’ research magazine of VSSPU. Every year about 5 students of the faculty achieved the best results in science get a title of a Student-Researcher.
There is a students’ self-government which is carried out by students’ dean’s office. It organizes scientific, cultural, social and sport activities. Students take an active part in cultural life of Volgograd State Social Pedagogical University. There is a students’ stage theatre “Pulse” at the faculty. Students of the faculty also greatly enjoy their field practices in different parts of our country and abroad.

The Faculty of history and law
Find out the information of the faculty
The faculty of History and Law was founded in October 1931. There are four chairs at the faculty: the chair of General History, the chair of Russian History, the chair of Theory and Methods of Teaching History, Social Science and Law, and the chair of Law. There are also full-time and part-time departments at this faculty.
A teaching staff of the faculty has about 8 Doctors of Science and about 15 Candidates of Science. Many of them are the graduates of our university.
Since its foundation the faculty has been training teachers of History. Nowadays it also prepares teachers of History and Foreign Language, teachers of History and IT and Bachelors of Social-Economical Education.
Two archeological clubs “The Legend” and “The Horizon” are opened on the basis of the department of Russian History and scientific research laboratory of material culture. The clubs unite pupils and students of Volgograd and Volgograd region.
Since 2007 there functions the School of Young Historian. More than 50 senior pupils attend and enjoy these classes.
