The 9th International Symposium on Antennas, Propagation and EM Theory
WELCOME TO ISAPE 2010
A Message from a General Co-Chair
Welcome Speech at Opening Ceremony of ISAPE 2010
November 30, 2010, Guangzhou, China
Good morning, Ladies and Gentlemen,
The 9th ISAPE is open today. ISAPE is a serial symposium on Antenna, Propagation and EM theory, which has a history of over 25 years in China. The aim of ISAPE is to provide a forum for exchanging new ideas, new achievements in the fields of AP and EM theory internationally.
I am very happy to see that there are so many distinguished scientists coming from China and outside of China to attend this symposium with more than 450 papers submitted. Here, I’d like to express my warm welcome to you all and many thanks to those who have ever helped us in the preparing of this symposium in the past two years.
Science has no boundary. Any new ideas and new achievements should be exchanged for the beneficiaries of people all over the world.
I am also happy to see that there are so many young scientists active in these fields bringing fresh air and vigor.
I believe, in the age of information nowadays, studies in these fields must bring firm support to different applications and engineering including communications, navigation, all kinds of predictions for disasters etc.
Guangzhou is a beautiful historical city in Southern China with good climate. I hope all of you enjoy it and have a good time during the symposium with us. Thank you!
DONG Qingsheng
General Co-Chair
WELCOME TO ISAPE 2010
A Message from a General Co-Chair
It is a great privilege and a particular honor to welcome attendees to the Ninth International Symposium on Antennas, Propagation, and Electromagnetic Theory, ISAPE2010, sponsored by the Chinese Institute of Electronics (CIE), and co-sponsored by the CIE Radio Propagation Society and the CIE Antennas Society. The symposium is technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society, the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society, the IEEE Beijing Section, the National Key Laboratory of Electromagnetic Environment, and the Key Laboratory of Wave Scattering and Remote Sensing Information, MoE, China. It is supported by the China Committee for URSI, the China Research Institute of Radiowave Propagation (which is also the local organizer), the 39th Research Institute of China Electronics
Technology Group Corporation, Xidian University, and Fudan University. The symposium is being held in beautiful Guangzhou, China, in an area known for its spas and resorts.
This is a truly international meeting, with participation from more than 50 countries around the world. Approximately 450 papers were submitted, and these have been reviewed and a subset accepted to form an excellent technical program, with solid representation across the many topics within the scope of the symposium. This is a very special meeting. It is special because it has such international participation. It is also special because it is hosted by and held in China, one of the areas in which there is such tremendous growth in the fields covered by this symposium. I urge all attendees to take advantage of this unique opportunity to find people from other countries who are working in your area of interest, and to take the time to get to know them and their work. You have a wonderful opportunity to not only forge new working relationships, but to make some excellent new friends. I was fortunate enough to be involved in the first of what became this series of meetings 25 years ago, in Beijing. The friendships I made there have endured and become some of the most valuable I have, and their number has been multiplied many, many times over in succeeding related meetings through the years. You will find lots of important papers at this meeting. However, it is the people you will meet and the new friends you will make that are the most important.
Many of our colleagues have worked very hard to make this symposium happen. Special thanks are due to Prof. Qingsheng Dong, the other General Co-Chair, and to Mr. Tiehan Ma and Mr. Julin He, the Co-Chairs of the Organizing Committee. A tremendous amount of excellent work has been done by the Technical Program Committee, co-chaired by Prof. Ya-Qiu Jin, Prof. Jian Wu, Prof. Le-Wei Li, and Prof. Zhen-Sen Wu. The Secretary General and Vice Secretary General who have contributed so much to the symposium are Prof. Zhenwei Zhao and Dr. Zheng-Wen Xu. The many Technical Program Committee and International Advisory
Committee members have helped make this symposium a success, and their assistance is greatly appreciated. Special thanks, too, to Prof. Zong Sha, who was one of the founders of the meetings that became the ISAPE series.
My very best wishes to all ISAPE2010 attendees. I hope you enjoy this symposium, find the papers technically stimulating, appreciate the wonderful surroundings, and leave with new friendships for the future.
