Abstract-This paper presents a type of E-plane filter using folded split ring resonators (FSRRs). For miniaturization design, the FSRRs are adopted to design this kind of E-plane filter. The FSRR-loaded waveguide cell, which is constructed of a section of waveguide loaded with a single FSRR in the center E-plane, is carefully designed and analyzed. The depth of transmission zero and the Q-factor are investigated with respect to the sizes of FSRR. Two typical samples, i.e. the single band bandstop filters and dual-band bandstop filters, are designed and simulated. The design method can be used to design W-band E-plane filters as well and simulation results of an example are presented. This kind of filters can be designed to implement multi-band bandstop or to form multi-band bandpass filters flexibly. So the design filters are reconfigurable.
